For the visually challenged reader, this image shows a wrought iron gate with the words “the way” written on it. There’s a path beyond the closed gate leading into a tree-lined lane
The poem below was written in response to the photo above from Sadje’s weekly #WDYS #WhatDoYouSee #PoetryPrompt #137 If you still want to participate in it then you can access it through the following link:

GATEWAY
Standing here
On a autumn’s evening
In front of
Wrought iron gates
(Behind which stand
tall leafless trees
Guarding the forested path)
Finely crafted
And curved inwards
With the words “The Way”
Mysteriously inscribed in the middle
The way to what, I wonder?!
Or where?
Perhaps a fantastical land
Full of fun; frolics & fairies
Or a curious cul de sac
Containing captivating creatures
A daunting domain
Dripping with danger and death
The way to a brighter future
Or an uncertain tomorrow?!
Who knows what awaits
Behind them?
Just need to find the key.
A thought provoking poem Ken. I love the mystery in your verses. Thanks for joining in
