GOING AROUND IN CIRCLES #SADJE’S #WDYS #WHATDOYOUSEE #POETRYPROMPT #150

For this week, Sadje has asked us to write a poem based on the image above which shows the sun rising between two hills. In the front is a valley. One can see concentric circles in the valley made of green vegetation and a pile of black stones in their center. Below is my contribution: 👇👇

GOING AROUND IN CIRCLES

Circular; green mounds of grass
Sporadically dotted with stones
Getting progressively smaller
As we move closer to the centre
Whereupon lies a pile of rocks
Set against a picture postcard backdrop
Of towering mountains; swirling grey clouds
And the yellow sun
Slowly descending
Into the mouth
Of the mountainous;
Skylined valley
All painted delicately
Onto a blue & orange sky
Reminding us that,
Though sometimes life can feel like
We’re going around in circles
Being swallowed up by valleys
With nothing but a bunch of rocks
And a bit of earth for our reward,
That the journey can have it’s peaks too
With the view along the way
Being pretty colourful;
Awe-inspiring
And spectacular!
