I haven’t done this challenge before but I came across on my good friend’s David Bogomolny’s blog over at the Skeptic’s Kaddish so I thought I’d give it a whirl. It’s called The Symetrelle
(The Symetrelle is a form created by Julie Moeller Writing on Allpoetry com as Bluejewel. She describes it thus:
- It begins and ends with a single subject line that is 7 syllables.
- It has βa hat and bootsβ, mono-rhymed couplets that lead you into and out of the subject with a 9 syllable count.
- At the heart of it is a mono-rhymed 4 line quatrain with an 11 syllable count.)
Below lies my contribution which gave us the word Lightening to use as a guide line. Not sure it’s exactly within the parameters of a symatelle but sure hope you’ll enjoy! π€ππ
LIGHTENING ROD
She’s a lightening rod for trouble
It courses through her veins
She always gets the blame
When you’re in her vicinity
Bad things happen implicitly
The air fills with electricity
From her strange eccentricity
She’s a lightening rod for trouble
If you too would like to participate in the prompt then you can access it through the following link:
Wow nicely done you two. Lovely style and piece. Congratulations ππ

Bravo, Ken! David was the one who directed me to your blog, so it’s nice to see you here. This form sounds so difficult, but you make it look easy. I like the way it all came together for you! π

Ah cool, David is a good man. Always connecting us poets and bloggers together! πππ Delighted you enjoyed it! π I’m normally a bit intimidated by all the different forms of poetry and worried I will get it wrong. But in this case, it all came together nicely! ππ I’m very happy with how it came together myself. ππ

There are so many forms. What I love is how we can all learn together. Judgment free poetry writing zonesβ¦ π§‘

Excellent poem and I’m guessing every reader knows at least one lightning rod, and if they don’t, it means it is probably them! π
