FIRST AND LAST BREATH: Moonwashed Weekly Prompt (Transient)

Hey folks! This week over at Moonwashed Musings Weekly Prompts, Eugi gave us the word: TRANSIENT to ponder and inspire us to write. Below lies my contribution: šŸ‘‡šŸ‘‡

FIRST AND LAST BREATH

I’ve seen life’s emergence
And witnessed it’s end
(All too often)
So transient in nature
A sobering blend
Of change and uncertainty
New beginnings & death
Romance and heartbreak
First & last breath
Each day is an adventure
A step into the unknown
We’re just passing through here
On the way to our home
One thing you can’t stop
Is the sands of time
Ever flowing downwards
Just like this rhyme
Eventually we’ll succumb
To the ravages of old age
Slow burning & deceptive
Wrinkled & weary
Yet we wage
War against it
In the vain hope of success
I gaze up at the stars
And the whole of the moon
The sun in all it’s glory
And I marvel and I swoon
At it’s cosmic beauty
The vastness of it all
Eternally enduring
While we strive & we fall
To carve out our place
On this planet we call earth
Find love & contentment
Since the day of our birth
Because we all know deep down
That we don’t have too long
To make our mark
Before Father Time sounds the gong
So make the most of each day
Seize happiness when you can
Take it off the long finger
Start implementing your plans
Live and act in the moment
Instead of looking too far ahead
Embrace the unexpected
For you can’t do it when you’re dead.
