RUNNING: TAKING YOUR POWER BACK

When I started back running last February, I was stuck in a rut; a physical rut. For the previous 2 years throughout Covid restrictions I had observed other people running past the window, getting their 5 miles in, wishing it was me who was out there and feeling sorry for myself.

It’d been well over a decade since I’d last put on my runners. I could use life; family; grief over lost loved ones as reasons but the truth is, I had just got lazy. They were all excuses. You can’t use other folks as the reasons for why you do or don’t do something.

I realised you’ve got to take responsibility for your own happiness & health. And the more I ran, the stronger I got; the freer I felt, the more the fog in my head lifted and I looked forward to going out for a run. It wasn’t about medals; races or personal bests. It was about doing something I loved and made me feel better about myself inside and out. I had started to take my power back. And you can too! πŸ’ͺπŸ‘πŸ€”πŸ˜
