MY RESOLVE TO BE HAPPY: (In the Moment) d’Verse Poetics Prompt (Resolving To Resolve)

For this week’s d’Verse Poetics Prompt Punam has encouraged us to do a Take 2 on our New Year’s Resolutions by weaving 1 of the following 5 pieces of random advice into a poem, using it as a springboard for our own personal Resolution Verse! I chose No. 3

” 1. Your self-worth is not in your inbox.

2. When you add something to the cupboard of life, subtract something.

3. Immerse yourself completely in a happy and say aloud, β€œI am happy now”!

4. Parent the child you have and don’t try to turn them into what you want.

5. At the end of each day fold your clothes and put them away, no matter how tired you are.”

Below lies my contribution: πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡

MY RESOLVE TO BE HAPPY (In the Moment)

I resolve
To immerse
myself completely
in a happy moment….
Because I have a tendency
Of over thinking
And imagining the worst
Of not being fully in the moment
Mind swimming in rhyme & verse
Jumping ahead in my thoughts
Anxious & a little terse
Sometimes a blessing,
Sometimes a curse.

So I pull on a pair of trainers
Running gear
Fly out the door
Grab a caramel mocha
In my favourite coffee shop
To feel the bliss
Of daydreaming in the moment
Reconnect with my core
At the end of that cup
What wisdom & words lies in store
At the point of my nib
What immense satisfaction awaits
On completion of my run
At those moments
I couldn’t ask for more
That’s when “I can say aloud”
That’s when I can roar.
“I am happy now!”
