IT’S NOT IMPOSSIBLE: Wea’ve Written Weekly Poetry Prompt #50

For this week’s WEA’VE WRITTEN WEEKLY Prompt over at the Skeptic’s Kaddish, this week’s PoW: Jane Aguiar has given us the following guidelines. To write a poem in either of the forms below: πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡

1) Senryu;
For explanation of β€˜Senryu’; click on the following link: https://poetscollective.org/poetryforms/senyru/

2) Symetrelle;
For explanation of the β€˜Symetrelle’; click on the following link: https://poetscollective.org/poetryforms/symetrelle/

– Include the word β€œimpossible” in your poem.

3) Submit: Click on β€˜Mr. Linky’

I’ve chosen the ‘Symatrelle’ form as it’s served me well in the past. Below lies my contribution to the prompt, hope ye enjoy the read! πŸ™πŸ˜πŸ€žπŸ“–πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡

IT’S NOT IMPOSSIBLE

I don’t think it’s impossible

This thing that you’re asking of me
This burden that you’ve placed on me

Though it weighs heavy on these shoulders of mine
Though I’ve lost track of the number of times
That you’ve got yourself in a right old mess
That you’ve got me doing something ridiculous

Because you’ve fallen on hard times
Because you’ve won this heart of mine

I don’t think it’s impossible.

EYE OF THE BEHOLDER; AGE TO SHOULDER – w3 (Wea’ve Written Weekly) Prompt: Beauty

For the current WEA’VE WRITTEN WEEKLY Prompt, this week’s PoW: Aishwarya from over at Kitty’s Verses has challenged us to write a “Beauty” themed poem using either the “American Sentence” or “Limerick” poetic form. I have decided to go with the latter. Below lies my contribution to the prompt, hope ye enjoy the read: πŸ™πŸ€žπŸ˜πŸ“–πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡

EYE OF THE BEHOLDER; AGE TO SHOULDER

“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”
Rings less & less true as you grow older
As you discover true beauty lies within
And what makes you masculine/feminine
The truth of your age to shoulder

THE ETERNAL BEATING HEART: Wea’ve Written Weekly #48

For the WEA’VE WRITTEN WEEKLY Prompt hosted by David Bogomolny over at The Skeptic’s Kaddish, this week’s PoW: Kerfe Roig has encouraged us to compose a poem beginning with the words: “Hope is…” Below lies my contribution, hope ye enjoy the read! πŸ€žπŸ™πŸ˜πŸ“–

THE ETERNAL BEATING HEART OF RAINBOW BUTTERFLIES

Hope is…
A rainbow stretched across
An overcast sky
After a bout of torrential rain

Hope is…
A beating heart
In your belly
After years of trying in vain

Hope is…
The words of eternity
In the Good Book
After a loved one’s been laid
To rest

Hope is…
Once dormant dreams
As yet unfulfilled
Beginning to take shape

Hope is…
The sound of birdsong
On a spring morning
Heralding the dawn of a new day

Hope is…
The visit of a butterfly
On a summer’s day
Reminding us that we can change

STAINED CERAMICS; CAFFEINATED BURN: Weave Written Weekly: w3 Prompt #45

For this week’s Weave Written Weekly Prompt over at the Skeptic’s Kaddish, David Bogomolny, this week’s PoW has encouraged us to compose a poem from the perspective of an inaminate household object using personification.

STAINED CERAMICS; CAFFEINATED BURN

There’s something I’d like to address
Every day you do the same thing
Take me down from the press
To get your caffeine fix
Heap this sweet sugary substance into me
As well as what looks like coffee granules of sort,
Then you proceed to add this white; milky liquid to the mix
I think you might call
It soya
Then you throw boiling hot water into my ceramic interior
On top of it all
Ouch!!!
And stir them together without any regard
For how I might feel!
Just because I’m not human
Just because I’m made of clay
Doesn’t mean their not real
Then, when you’ve finished drinking from me
You just throw me to one side
On the sink
Used.
Stained with coffee
Cracked on the edges
And feeling dirty inside.

FLOODING THE WORLD WITH MADNESS: Weave Written Weekly: #42

For this week’s WEA’VE WRITTEN WEEKLY Prompt, hosted by David Bogomolny over at the Sceptic’s Kaddish, this week’s PoW Tanmay Philip has asked us to write a “Puente”, a poem with 3 stanzas with the middle stanza (song title) acting as a bridge between the 1st & last stanza. Below lies my contribution to the prompt: πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡I chose Mad World by Gary Jules as my song title. Hope ye all enjoy the read! πŸ™πŸ€žπŸ˜πŸ“–

FLOODING THE WORLD WITH MADNESS

Mass shootings & earthquakes
Brought about by archaic gun laws
And shifting tectonic plates
Shooting balloons out of the sky
Bloody “special military operations”
Leaves little room to wonder why

It’s a ~Mad world~

That we’re living in today
War torn refugees crossing oceans
In a vain attempt to escape.
Torrential rain & forest fires
Threatening to burn down our ambition
And flood our empires

CHASING DREAMS – Wea’ve Written Weekly/d’Verse Poetics Prompt (Visionary Poetry)

This week Ingrid over at d’Verse Poetics has challenged us to get in touch with our Visionary self whilst Sarah David, the PoW over at The Skeptic’s Kaddish‘s Wea’ve Written Weekly has encouraged us to write a poem about dreams in 14 lines or less. Below lies my contribution: πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡

CHASING DREAMS

Memories of dreams are most elusive
I dream a dream in the midst of REM
Then I wake up,
I always wake up
And the dream is no more
I can’t remember them
That’s the thing about dreams
They never last forever
And I spend the rest of the day
Chasing after snippets of it
In the mental corridors of my mind
Trying to piece the dream together.
And recapture the hope it gave me
The comfort it brought
