UNPURPOSELY OLD-FASHIONED Moonwashed Weekly Prompt; Ragtag Daily Prompt

In today’s poem, I’ve combined 2 different prompts from Moonwashed Weekly Prompt which this week features the excellent word: “Willy Nilly” & today’s Ragtag Daily Prompt: ANACHRONISM. Below lies my contribution:👇👇😁😁

UNPURPOSELY OLD-FASHIONED

He was a throwback to another time
Hoodie pulled up over his head
With his C. D. player tucked into his outside jacket pocket;
Headphones wrapped around his neck
Notepad & pen in his shoulder bag
Hanging off his left shoulder
And sitting by his right hip
For easy access
Walking willy nilly around the town
Without any direction or purpose
A source of bemusement to his wife
And gentle mocking amongst his friends
An anachronism in a tech savvy & look cool world

MOUNT DUBIOUS: Moonwashed Weekly Prompt (Dubious) #134

For this week’s Moonwashed Weekly Prompt, Eugi has provided us with the word: DUBIOUS for our literary inspiration. Below lies my contribution to the prompt, hope ye enjoy the read! 🤞🙏😁📖

MOUNT DUBIOUS

Even though he jokes and jests
I don’t know about this guy
His intentions seem questionable
His motives, dubious
at best
Downright untrustworthy at worst
Can’t quite place my finger on it
This could end up being a mess
Erupting like Vesuvius
Molten hot lava
Of worst fears realised
Flowing down the mountain
Of misplaced trust
Burning everything in it’s path
Far from *salubrious
It’s why you’re better off
To have a select few friends
People that you can turn to,
Who form the nucleus
Of folk in whom you have
Complete confidence
Who’ll be there through
When the going gets tough
When you’re heart breaks
Over loved ones passed
Or other “friends” forsake
Save you from being *lugubrious

*lugubrious means excessively mournful
*salubrious means favourable to health of mind or body

TEAK TOUGH: Moonwashed Weekly Prompt (Uncompromising) Ragtag Daily Prompts (Exoskeleton & Sunset)

For this week’s prompt amalgamation I’ve combined this week’s Moonwashed Weekly Prompt (Uncompromising) with today’s Ragtag Daily Prompt which was originally (Exoskeleton) but now (Sunset). Both prompts have been included in this poem. Hope ye enjoy the read! 🙏🤞😁📖

TEAK TOUGH

Steadfast in his ambition
Uncompromising in his beliefs
Stubborn & resilient
He was like an old oak tree
Firmly planted to the ground
Roots stretching deep beneath the earth
You could hit him
Shake him
Try to cut him down
His weather beaten
Teak tough exoskeleton
Had taken a lot of abuse
Over the years
Had witnessed many sunsets
But he was not for moving
He was built for endurance
Uncompromising endurance!

INFINITE CAPACITY: Moonwashed Weekly Prompt #127 (Infinite)

For this week’s Moonwashed Weekly Prompt, Eugi has given us the word: INFINITE as our poetic inspiration. Below lies my contribution, hope you enjoy the read! 🙏🤞😁📖👇👇

INFINITE CAPACITY

The stars in the heavens
The grains of sand on the seashore
The vastness of time & space
Our capacity for love & resilience
In the face of upheaval
Our ability to change
Adapt & transform
Our propensity
For stupidity
Half-truths & duplicity
All common place & implicitly
Infinite!

THE TWO FACES OF NEW BEGINNINGS: Reena’s Xploration Challenge #264

For this week’s Xploration Challenge & Moonwashed Weekly Prompt, Reena & Eugi have encouraged us to compose a poem on JANUS (God Of January) & the word: EVOLVE respectively. Below lies my contribution: 👇👇👇 Hope ye enjoy the read! 🙏🤞😁📖

THE TWO FACES OF NEW BEGINNINGS

Janus!
The 2 faces of January
God of endings
And new beginnings!
Gates and doorways
Transitions & passages
And ultimately… Time!
But can I trust him?
This God of duality?!
To help me start again
Help me evolve
Into the person I want to become.
Help me make the most of my time?
Which face is he going to show?
How’s he going to frame it?
And where will the doorway lead?
Down a dead end; cul de sac
Into my old self
Or through the gates of new; unexplored possibilities?!

PROVOCATIVE LITERARY AGITATION – Moonwashed Weekly Prompt #125

For this week’s Moonwashed Weekly Prompt, Eugi has encouraged us to compose a piece of poetry using the word: PROVOCATIVE. Below lies my contribution! 👇👇👇Hope that ye enjoy the read! 🙏🤞😁📖

PROVOCATIVE LITERARY AGITATION

Prod; poke and agitate
With questioning vocabulary & uncomfortable truths
Provoke thought & self-reflection
With daring words; honest insight & provocative language.
Challenge the status quo
By writing & composing things
No one else would even dare
Or dream of
You’re a literary provocateur
Operating on the outskirts
Of penned self-expression
A vernacular raconteur
Using the broad expanses of the written word
To counteract his verbal repression
So he keeps it positive;
Makes it evocative
Teases with the provocative
That’s my linguistic perogative.
