THE GOLDEN RUNG OF LIQUIFIED ENLIGHTENMENT: Sadjeโ€™s #WhatDoYouSee #WDYS Poetry Image Prompt

For this week’s #WDYS #WHATDOYOUSEE Poetry Image Prompt, Sadje has provided us & the visually challenged reader with this image above which shows a multicolored metallic hand which is encircled by a golden ring. This probably is a computer generated image. Below lies my contribution, hope you enjoy the read! ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ“–

THE GOLDEN RUNG OF LIQUIFIED ENLIGHTENMENT

Reaching for the golden rung
(In the blackness of outer space)
The highest level on the ladder
Of social status to be climbed
Of infinite knowledge to be attained
It’s out of this world!
But it’s grip proves elusive
Passing through his hands
As he seeks to grab a hold of it
They promised I could do the same things
With my new robotic hands
As I did with my normal ones
But space seemed to liquify the metal
And my hopes for enlightenment
In the process.

TRANQUIL REFLECTION OF ANGER: Sadjeโ€™s #WhatDoYouSee #WDYS Poetry Image Prompt

Image credit; Johannes Plenio @ Unsplas

For this week’s prompt, Sadje has provided the visually challenged reader with the image above which shows a bank of nimbostratus clouds refracting the setting sun, which gives it a grayish-red hue. This is reflected in the water below it. Below lies my response to it, hope ye enjoy the read! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿคž๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ“–

TRANQUIL REFLECTION OF ANGER

Something’s rumbling up there in the sky,
Hidden behind the clouds,
As if the Gods had lit a fire
Or set off a volcanic eruption
In the heat of the moment
Hovering dangerously close
To the water
Weighing poor old “Nimbo” down
Barely containing
The heaven’s anger
Reflected in the tranquil sea

SYNGED LOVE LETTER; REIGNITED FLAMES: Sadjeโ€™s #WhatDoYouSee #WDYS Poetry Image Prompt #177

Image credit; Leighann Blackwood @ Unsplash

For the visually challenged reader & this week’s #WHATDOYOUSEE #WDYS #POETRYPROMPT, Sadje has provided us with this image which shows a piece of paper thatโ€™s partly scorched at the top. The intact part shows a quote 1 Corinthians 13 written on it. Below lies my contribution, hope you enjoy the read! ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ“–

SYNGED LOVE LETTER; REIGNITED FLAMES

Love is a lot of things
I’ve spoken about it before
It can make you cry
And make you sing
Leaving you with a cold heart
Or yearning for a little bit more
What love does most of all
Though
Is light a fire inside
You
Around you
Around the synged edges
Of your love lettered life
Before eventually
Consuming you
Engulfing you with
Passion & longing;
Anger & hate
Righting & wronging
Hurt & heartbreak.

The ultimate love letter
Written by St. Paul
To the Corinthians
Forming the backdrop
Of many’s a marriage vow
Setting an olympian
Standard
For the rest of us to follow
All declarations since,
In comparison,
Seem hollow.
Artificial even.

It’s words
Divinely inspired
& too hot to handle
Though noble to aspire
Will burn a hole
In your conscience
Or make a liar
Out of aforementioned vows
Guideline for the humble
Challenge to the proud
Easy to forget
Amidst the arguments & rows
But for those who are willing
It’s timeless advice contains
The capacity & principles
To let go of your anger
Your pride & the blame
To sincerely forgive
And listen to their voice
To reignite your love’s flames
Soon you’ll rejoice

FURRY FASHION ACCESORY: Sadjeโ€™s #WhatDoYouSee #WDYS Poetry Image Prompt #176

For the visually challenged reader, Sadje has provided us with the image above which shows a man carrying a puppy in a carrier bag across his shoulders. The puppy looks pensive. Here’s my contribution, hope you enjoy the read! ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ“–

FURRY FASHION ACCESORY

“Oh for goodness sake!
Being carried around in a bag again
Like I’m some furry; fashionable accessory!
I look like an idiot!”
“Does he forget that I do have 4 legs?
“That I am able to walk on my own.
Why he persists on carrying me
In this silly bag
When all the other dogs
Are running around free
Barking; peeing; sniffing
Ya know?! The usual stuff.
I’ll never know!”

CHILDHOOD CONVERSATIONS BY THE QUAYSIDE: Sadjeโ€™s #WhatDoYouSee #WDYS Poetry Image Prompt #175

Image credit; Joshua Clay @ Unsplash

This week, for the visually challenged reader, Sadje has provided us with a black and white photograph above, showing the back of two young children sitting together. The older child has her arm around the shoulders of the younger one. The kids appear to be sitting by the waterโ€™s edge. Below lies my contribution: ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡

CHILDHOOD CONVERSATIONS BY THE QUAYSIDE

Listen little bro,
Come park yourself here beside me
So I can put my arms around you
I’m your big sister, you see.
So, it’s my job!
Look at the water there
It’s pretty big and I don’t want you falling in!
I’ve a few things to tell ya about this being a kid lark
It’s not easy, ya know.
You’ve a lot of eating to do & sleeping too!
But remember!
You have got to keep Mammy & Daddy awake.
So keep filling up those nappies, ya hear?!
And cry the odd time too,
One of those loud; wailing piercing cries
That keeps waking them up
It’s vitally important!
The more sleep deprived they are, the better!
Being cute helps too, helps you get away with murder.
Oh, and one final thing
Don’t forget that I’m always right.
Even when I’m not! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜

SETTING OUR WORDS ON FIRE: Sadjeโ€™s #WhatDoYouSee #WDYS Poetry Image Prompt #174

Image credit; The Ian @ Unsplash

For the visually challenged reader Sadje has provided us with this image, which shows a man standing and reading a newspaper, the pages of which appears to be on fire.

SETTING OUR WORDS ON FIRE

“Play with fire and you get burnt”
The power of written words,
As far as I’m concerned,
Can stoke the mind
And fuel the imagination
I have learnt
As the temperatures get higher
And it evolves into a fire
It becomes “too hot to handle.”
the pages can’t contain
The heat of truth therein
Kindles don’t hold a candle
To the power of written words
On paper.
That can set the world alight
Literally.
Figuratively.
For eternity.

THE NECK OF UNSPOKEN MAJESTY: Sadjeโ€™s #WhatDoYouSee #WDYS Poetry Image Prompt #173

This week, Sadje has provided us with this image which shows the silhouettes of a tall giraffe with a woman standing in front of him. The background shows a beautiful hued sky in pinks and oranges.

THE NECK OF UNSPOKEN MAJESTY

This tall; majestic giraffe
Slowly strided right up to me
With her long; gangly legs
Till she came to a halt
No more than a couple of feet away
The neck of her!
Arching over me
Her eyes staring directly into mine.
That met her gaze in return
Chest out
Head back
Woman to woman
Queen to Queen
Heart to heart
We understood each other
Immediately.
Without speaking,
Without the need for words
Superfluous & unnecessary
‘Gainst the postcard backdrop
Of sunset pink & purple

BLOG GOALS FOR THE WEEK AHEAD

I’ve already posted my 1st motivational running quote of the week for ye earlier and there’ll be 3 more where they came from on Wednesday; Friday & Saturday mornings. So please tune in for them! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ˜

Tomorrow, with it being Valentine’s Day and all that, will be all about the love. Will be doing a special reblog of my popular “Love Is…” poem featuring my own reflections on love. Hope ye will enjoy reading that again or perhaps for the 1st time!

It’s also, strangely enough, the 4th anniversary of my mum’s passing. So I’ll also be reposting a poem called “Freeze Time” reflecting on my then wish to stop time and prevent her death from ever happening. And showing some poetic love to ye guys and gals for all the support

On Wednesday, I hope to respond to Sadjeโ€™s latest #WhatDoYouSee #WDYS Poetry Image Prompt and d’Verse’s latest Poetics Prompt respectively. Should you wish to participate in Sadjeโ€™s prompt then you can access it through the following link: https://lifeafter50forwomen.com/2023/02/13/what-do-you-see-173-13th-february-2023/

From Thursday onwards, I’ve nothing planned as kids will be off school so difficult to plan stuff. However, I’ll still be responding to various poetry prompts from Moonwashed Weekly Prompt to Ragtag Daily Prompts to Reena’s Xploration Challenge & WeaveWrittenWeekly etc whenever the opportunity & inspiration arises.

On Sunday, I’ll be rounding it all up with my regular Sunday Blog Recap with links to all the blogs I posted during the previous week. I trust you’ll all join me for that & keep following for regular updates. Thanks again for your support; encouragement and feedback.
