THE GREAT TREE: #WhatDoYouSee #WDYS Poetry Image Prompt #

Image credit; Tasos Mansour @ Unsplash

For the visually challenged reader, this image shows a crooked tree with bare branches. In the background stars in the sky can be seen forming streaks in a circular fashion.

I knew I remembered seeing this image before, from a previous #WDYS #WHATDOYOUSEE prompt back on the 10th of May 2022 so I opted for the easy/lazy route by reposting my response to that prompt. Hope that ye enjoy the read! 🤞😁🙏📖

THE GREAT TREE

Swirls of light
In the night sky
(Multicoloured
With orange; grey & black
Forming a foreboding
Yet enchanting backdrop)
Swoosh around
In rapid circular motions
Forming a vortex
With the aim of lifting
The solitary remaining tree
(The last bastion of life
In this barren landscape)
Out of it’s deeply embedded roots
By sucking it into
An alternate universe
But it would not be moved.
It was taking it’s final stand.
It’s long; sinewy roots
Digging deep into the soil
Clawing; clinging
On for survival
It’s bare; leafless branches
Stretching backwards
To form a twig shaped cape
Protecting it from the elements
The sun bleached rocks,
Surrounding the great tree
Bowed down in worship
Offering their silent; stoic support

DARKNESS & LIGHT; INVISIBLE SIGHT: Sadje’s #WhatDoYouSee #WDYS Poetry Image Prompt

Image credit; Jake Fahad @ Unsplash

For this week’s #WDYS #WHATDOYOUSEE Poetry Image Prompt, Sadje has provided the visually challenged reader, with this image which shows a person sitting next to a tree in a wooded area. They are wearing a bright yellow hoodie. The face of the person is not visible. Below lies my contribution to the prompt, hope ye the read! 🤞🙏😁

DARKNESS AND LIGHT; INVISIBLE SIGHT

Darkness colours & inhabits him
Yet a light resides deep inside
That no one can see or has ever seen
The invisible man
Is feeling forlorn
Isolated & alone
So he dons a yellow jacket
(Just to be seen,
Just to share a little bit of that light)
Pulls his hoodie up over his head and
Sits down on the bench
Beside the treecreaper
down to one side.
Contemplating…
What it’d be like
To have a friend
And be truly seen.

A FUNGAL FANTASY: Sadje’s #WhatDoYouSee #WDYS Poetry Image Prompt #172

Photo credit; Greg Nunes @ Unsplash

For this week’s prompt, Sadje has provided us with the image above as a source of creative inspiration. It “shows a set of three blue artificial mushrooms planted in a grassy area. These are all of different sizes.” Below lies my contribution: 👇👇👇

A FUNGAL FANTASY

No, you’re not hallucinating
Nor are you experiencing a bad trip
Yes, there are 3 mushrooms
But not of the magic kind
Artificially planted
Out of the blue!
Shining bright
A fishy; fungal fantasy
Swimming in circles
Around an ocean
In a mushroom cap

BREAK-FAST; SLOW DOWN: Sadje’s #WhatDoYouSee #WDYS Poetry Image Prompt #161

For the visually challenged reader Sadje has given us this image above which shows a table set with food, mostly breakfast dishes, and coffee. Hands are reaching towards food. Below lies my contribution: 👇👇👇

BREAK-FAST; SLOW DOWN

Breakfast
Break-fast
Slow down
Reach out
Tuck in Digest
Catch up
No time to waffle
Just eat
Refuel
Caffeinate
Rejuvenate
For day ahead
Let’s be honest
You’re really craving
A sausage
Or two
It’ll be an egg-cellent choice
Don’t be rash-
ers. Take your time
You’ll have enough
To be pudd-ing up with
During the day
